Transport Systems Product Owner

Nommon’s Transport Systems business unit leverages the travel demand information produced by our Mobility Analytics business unit and combines it with predictive modelling and optimisation techniques to provide innovative tools for the planning and operation of transport services. Nommon Transport Systems offers three main products: Transit Insights, which provides a permanently updated picture of the use of public transport services based on smart payment data; WiseTransit, a decision support tool for the planning and real-time management of public transport networks based on the accurate forecasting of expected travel demand; and WiseRide, which supports shared mobility operators and local authorities in designing and implementing efficient and sustainable shared mobility services. We are looking for a Product Owner with an analytical mind, passionate about public transport, who is willing to contribute to the development and commercialisation of Transit Insights, WiseTransit and WiseRide, from product conception through technical implementation and market introduction.

Job description

You will work alongside an international, multidisciplinary team of talented researchers, product engineers and developers to design, develop and implement innovative software products for the public transport industry. Responsibilities include:

• Contribute to the definition of the overall product vision and value proposition in close collaboration with the Product Manager.
• Lead and/or participate in requirements gathering workshops with external and internal stakeholders and translate the identified needs into product requirements.
• Lead the elaboration and refinement of user stories.
• Build and maintain the product backlog, prioritising user stories to ensure alignment with the product roadmap and maximise product value.
• Plan the product development tasks, including sizing and phasing, to ensure delivery to cost and schedule.
• Lead and guide the product development team throughout all stages of the product life-cycle.
• Define KPIs and metrics to evaluate progress at each stage of development.
• Design, plan and execute functional validation tests in close collaboration with the Product Manager.
• Support product launch, including the creation of user manuals, user training, and client support.
• Design and conduct product demonstrations in collaboration with Nommon’s Business Development team.

Minimum requirements

Required

• BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or any other relevant scientific/technical discipline.
• 3+ years of experience as Product Owner (or in a similar role), preferably in a SaaS company with a focus on data products and/or analytics.
• Good understanding of software engineering processes, procedures, methodologies, and tools.
• Experience/knowledge in agile and/or iterative development methodologies.
• Experience in requirements gathering and analysis.
• Experience in the development of data analytics products that capture and process vast amounts of data from heterogeneous sources (Excel, APIs, …).
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Excellent English and Spanish oral and written communication skills.

Nice to have, but not indispensable

• Experience in the development of complex software products for the public transport industry.
• Experience/knowledge in public transport data standards (GTFS, GBFS, NetEx, SIRI, Transmodel, etc.).
• Experience/knowledge in transport engineering.
• Experience/knowledge in machine learning.
• Experience/knowledge in optimisation and operations research.

Salary and benefits

• Annual salary: 40.000 € – 60.000 €.
